Feature Teaser - Bulk Order Upload
Updated: Feb 5, 2021
Adaptive Learning using Bulk Order Upload for LTL shippers is a game-changer; Here is why.
There is an innate excitement anytime we have a major product launch, software update, or feature rollout. Being the SaaS technology company that we are, it's a big part of what drives us each and every day. I recently sat down with our Director of Product Development, Topher Speth, to discuss why it’s such a game-changer to the MyCarrier platform and I quickly realized that this is the most technologically advanced feature we’ve offered to date.
MyCarrier set out to create a digital shipping platform that was user-friendly and sponsored by the top LTL carriers that you work with today. Our vision included the commitment to listening to our user base, gathering insights on what they needed to excel in their jobs, and setting a course of action to comprehensively develop those digital tools and features. We want to continue driving the platform forward with our shippers in mind - our thought being that if we can leave you to focus on the aspects of your business then we assist in driving forward further results for you and your organization. MyCarrier will take care of the rest by developing a complete platform that supports those efforts for you, your customers, and your vendors.
The product development teams at MyCarrier have reached a point where the core platform is extremely stable, agile, and meets the needs of the LTL shippers. Why is that important? Because now, the team at MyCarrier is able to create industry-changing features like never seen before. From Speth’s point of view, Bulk Upload, in the works since August 2020, is the number one differentiator, primed to have a massive impact on end-users based on three criteria:
1. Increased shipment entry velocity and efficiency
For customers and shippers in the space, who are tasked with executing five-plus shipments per day, whether those shipments are entered individually or per batch, current workflows are primarily set on hand-key operations. These customers are ideal targets for adopting Adaptive Learning Bulk Upload, as multiple steps within those stagnant workflows have been reduced or eliminated. Additionally, the flexibility of the platform enables companies that utilize an ERPs (enterprise resource platform) or e-commerce platforms, to now have the capability to collect all shipment information within one centralized system. Currently, not all information is available or known within an ERP, for example: the commodity’s class, the delivery location, or total shipment weight. Bulk Upload is built so that the shipper can import as much of or as little information as they have available, creating an agile shipment template, and then return to finalize the shipment order without missing any of the important details.
2. Create multiple templates and workflows for multiple locations, products, or P&D points to drive productivity
No two companies are exactly the same, with multiple pickup and delivery points, products, and packaging types just to name a few. MyCarrier customers are no longer restrained by only being able to utilize one workflow. This development archetype reflects a goal the product and development team have set, which is that no customer is forced to do any type of manual data transfer at all. The system is set to take the data, import it, and set the mapping to execution just one time. Topher directs shippers to “tell the system how to use the data the first time including which fields to synchronize within the platform, and then MyCarrier will take it from there. A direct 1:1 copy for all future shipments now has been established and set.” It’s a “one-and-done” philosophy. Errors created through manual processes are eradicated. Consistency and uniformity are set. Customer satisfaction is driven to new heights across your entire sales and operations.
3. Bulk Upload is an “adaptive learning” feature
When I came aware of the MyCarrier “self-learning” concept, I frankly thought this was a differentiating feature that sets MyCarrier apart from almost any other LTL platform. The first time you use this feature, you’ll more than likely not have workflow templates mapped and set. So, the question became “how does MyCarrier help alleviate that while making it easier the next time you use the digital shipping platform?” The answer is in the architecture of the system feature. As you work with Bulk Upload functionality and import the available data, you are able to iterate on your templates and refine your workflows. Once the template is created and set, the system will assess and learn what has been done in the past including what details have been entered secondarily to a specific load with x, y, z characteristics and it will apply those succinctly to future shipments that match the same criteria. Editing control will always remain with you, but more importantly, the data and information are proactively synchronized with the set workflow map creating substantially faster execution of the tasks at hand. Think of it like having a sidekick that learns by doing, helping you execute your day-to-day faster, and gives back time in your day to tackle other initiatives.
Simply put, Bulk Upload is a dynamic feature that will dramatically improve your day-to-day workflows. Our research shows that roughly 15% of our current shipper base will benefit directly from this launch on day one - and that only fuels our excitement.
